What's New with PEO???

Mental Health Moment

Mental health care for Black women is especially critical in 2026, as research shows higher exposure to chronic stress from systemic inequities, financial strain, and discrimination. These factors are directly linked to increased rates of anxiety, depression, and psychological distress, while barriers like cost and stigma continue to limit access to care.

Simple, consistent habits can make a meaningful difference in improving well-being. Strong support systems, daily stress-reduction practices, and limiting negative media exposure can help protect emotional health and build resilience, especially for teens and low-income women.

Recognizing and addressing trauma is also essential, as experiences like emotional abuse and intimate partner violence are strongly tied to long-term mental health challenges. Using free resources and maintaining basic health habits like sleep and movement can provide a realistic, accessible path to better mental health.

What's Next with GenNEXT?

Secure the Bag

The members of Phi Epsilon Omega under 40 years old have introduced a savings challenge for the Chapter. This exciting competition pits the members of GenNEXT against the Divine Pearls of our chapter. The goal is to see which group can get to the "AKA" bag by pay their dues one time, registering for conferences, and more! This encourages us to participate in our Sister Savings Circle which connects our members and establish a savings plan that fits individual budgets.

Love Your Heart

During February, we are excited to promote heart healthy habits! GenNEXT is launching "Green Apple Accountability" where members can connect their Apple or fitness watches for mutual support and fitness tracking. We can enhance this initiate by setting goals such as the number of workouts per week or daily steps. Let's get moving!

March Madness: The Real Pearls of PEO

Stay tuned for Season 2 of The Real Pearls of PEO! In celebration of Women's History Month, GenNEXT features the members of Phi Epsilon Omega Chapter who exemplify Black Excellence inside and outside of the chapter. We focus on their profession and how AKA has prepared her for the level of success she's reached.
